Bussed Up

Last week there was a bus accident here in Park Slope on 7th Avenue. Apparently the bus lost control and smashed head on into some parked cars, then backed up into a tree and storefront. Here's what it looked like when I arrived on the scene.

Down with Wikipedia
Wikipedia is a wonderful open-source encyclopedia project, maintained online by thousands of worldwide contributors who compose, edit, and monitor articles about every topic imaginable. The content is updated by the minute, and has vastly more current information than any printed encyclopedia ever could. But, on the Down side, you'll get the occasional saboteur who wants to have fun with his editorial freedom. Such was the case with this front page Featured Article on November 4, 2006. Notice the funny caption, "A child with Down syndrome about to get hurt". I took a screenshot of it, because, well, you know the drill—just a few minutes later, that retarded, prophetic caption was corrected by the Wikipedia cops, to read, "A child with Down Syndrome using an electric drill."

Sex.com SOLD!

After a long battle to regain control of his coveted domain name, which I documented in a Flash cartoon holiday greeting card, Gary Kremen has sold Sex.com for about $14M.

Stealing Sex.com doesn't pay

Two years ago I produced a cartoon for Gary Kremen, the current and rightful owner of adult website portal sex.com. The Flash cartoon, "How the Grinch Stole Sex Dot Com", is the story of how con artist Stephen Cohen stole the valuable domain name sex.com from Gary Kremen, by forging a letter to Network Solutions.
At the time of producing the cartoon, the gonif Cohen was still at large. On October 28, 2005, Cohen was finally captured and arrested in Mexico. Today, a judge ruled that Cohen will remain in jail until he accounts for all the money he earned from the stolen sex.com domain.
In my cartoon, the 40-second story ends with Cohen sending a holiday greeting to Kremen. This is not so far from the truth! During Cohen's exile, he frequently sent letters to Kremen to taunt him. Well, it looks like my cartoon is finally outdated, and Kremen gets the last laugh.
